Sonepar Canada and Bullfrog Power Collaborate to Expand Green Energy Access

October 15, 2024

Sonepar Canada has recently partnered with Bullfrog Power to advance its commitment to sustainability by sourcing renewable energy.

This collaboration marks a significant step toward reducing Sonepar’s carbon footprint and supporting a cleaner future for Canada by choosing green electricity for its Canadian operations.

Bullfrog Power’s generators supply 100% clean, pollution-free electricity to the grid, matching one-quarter of the conventional power that Sonepar uses at its facilities in Brampton, Laval, Edmonton, and over 100 other locations across Canada.

“Our ambition is to be the most sustainable distributor of electrical products and services in Canada. Through our partnership with Bullfrog Power, we will reduce our emissions from electricity by using renewable sources and move closer to our goal,” said George McClean, President of Sonepar Canada. “In the coming years, we’ll continue to expand our investment in renewable electricity.”

Through this partnership, Bullfrog is helping Sonepar displace its electricity-related emissions and contribute green electricity to the grid. Sonepar is purchasing green electricity equivalent to one-quarter of the projected volume of conventional electricity it consumes in the respective areas, enabling a reduction in Canada-wide Scope 2 emissions by approximately 10%.

“Bullfrog Power is proud to support Sonepar in achieving their emissions reduction target,” said Suha Jethalal, President of Bullfrog Power. “By choosing Bullfrog Power’s 100% renewable energy, Sonepar is taking an active role in reducing the upstream environmental impact of the electrical infrastructure they provide to buildings across Canada. Together, we are changing Canada’s energy system and creating a cleaner future.”

Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind, solar, and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.
