Righting a Wrong
By Jim Taggart
In this column, I’m supposed to write about electrical industry stuff. However, I’m going to be selfish and try to right a wrong.
Last week, Electro-Federation Canada had a special farewell reception for me. It was an honour to see friends and family support the event. Their kind words and speeches were greatly appreciated and will always be remembered. There is nothing better than spending quality time with friends and family.
After all the kind words, it was up to me to thank all the associates, friends and family at the event. During my speech, I tried to thank everyone and tell a few funny industry stories. At first, I thought I had succeeded and had done rather well. However, after completing the speech, something just didn’t feel right.
A few minutes after delivering the speech, it hit me. I had forgotten to thank my wife Adeline for all her support during my career. I now feel like the golfer who has whiffed at the ball while attempting to drive it.
So selfishly and lovingly, I am using this article to thank Adeline for her support of my career. She gave up a great job at Proctor & Gamble to support our moves to Montreal, New Jersey, Memphis, Boston and back to Toronto. She was the glue that held our family together.
Thank you Adeline, I could not have done it without you.
