On Going to Banff. And Halifax in 2016

Banff Alberta

Jim Taggart

I just returned back from another conference; met a lot of old friends and made some new ones.It gave us all the opportunity to visit Banff and the beautiful surrounding area.If the Fairmont Banff Springs didn’t inspire you, the beauty of Lake Louise and Moraine certainly pushed you over the top.

I find the EFC conference allows me to recharge – we all get a little stale in the job, things can become routine and mundane. The conference and the beautiful town of Banff certainly provided me and EFC members with the chance to revitalize and come back to work refreshed.

In my opinion, the two big benefits of attending EFC conferences are the skills-based learning and networking. The speakers during the business program allow you to learn from others and improve your own skills and knowledge about our industry. The social events at the conference provide the opportunity to meet new people who work in our industry. There is an incredible amount of sharing of ideas and comparing of best practices that occurs at these business sessions. To me, it is always gratifying to see industry competitors working together, under the EFC umbrella, for the advancement of our industry.

The conference program helps identify new technologies that can create sales opportunities and recognizepossible threats. The speakers, who specialize in their fields, can update members on topics they should be aware of.Members can then either, individually or collectively, address these important industry issues.

The networking allows delegates to interact with other members who may be experiencing similar issues and problems. It allows them to tackle the issues together, often through EFC committees. The information exchanged also helps members benchmark their companies and adjust their strategic plans.

Overall, the conference not only provides “ideas/nuggets of gold” that you can apply in your business, but it also provides you with the opportunity to bring these ideas back and share with the rest of your team.

I’m already looking to forward to being rejuvenated and inspired next year in beautiful Halifax!
