Omron Automation Americas announced the grand opening of its expanded and relocated Montreal offices on October 30, 2017. The company will occupy new offices in a prestigious Dorval, Quebec business complex, with facilities that reflect how Omron does business in the 21st century. “Our new offices enhance customer interaction with our latest technologies as they seek solutions to their manufacturing challenges,” said Omron Canada General Manager Peter Brouwer.

The expanded Montreal test lab lets customers engage in hands-on, proof-of-concept testing of automation solutions. It will be fully outfitted with robots, motion control, machine safety, HMI, vision, sensors and control components that can be tested together, simulating integrated interactions. “Now that we operate as a Pan-American business, we are able to provide uniform service and support for our French-speaking customers’ needs.”
Jean Mathieu, Regional sales manager for Eastern Canada, reminded the participants of recent investments designed to invigorate Omron’s business in Canada and the Americas including the acquisition of Adept Technology, Inc. (robotics), Delta Tau Data Systems, Inc. (high precision motion controllers) and Microscan Systems, Inc. (industrial code readers).
“The acquisition of Adept Technology is intended to integrate Omron’s strength of ‘Input, Logic, Output and Safety’ and Adept’s competence in ‘R’ (Robotics) to generate unique automation solutions for global manufacturers,” said Yutaka Miyanaga, Omron Senior Managing Executive Officer & IAB Company President. “By adding Adept intelligent industrial robots to our automation portfolio, we are able to offer differentiated solutions that provide our customers with a competitive advantage.”
Through the acquisition of Delta Tau Data Systems, Omron aims to reinforce its technology development and engineering capabilities in the field of motion control designed to drive manufacturing equipment. Merging products and technologies of both companies will also enable delivery of optimized motion control solutions globally through combined distribution networks.
The acquisition of Microscan Systems, Inc. allows Omron to develop new code reading devices and comprehensive solutions that combine software technology from Microscan with Omron’s extensive lines of control components and equipment. The stable reading performance, even in demanding conditions, provides accurate identification data collected from each product or component for flexible automation and IIoT projects used to improve production processes and quality control.
