Manitoba EV Incentive Program

April 15, 2024

The Province of Manitoba is offering an electric vehicle rebate for eligible Manitobans, worth up to $4,000 for a new battery electric or plug-in hybrid and $2,500 for eligible recipients of a used battery electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid.

This rebate will be provided to Manitoba owners after they register their vehicle with Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI). The rebate applies only once per vehicle. Also, it is only available once to a vehicle purchaser or lessee.

How does it work?

  • For electric vehicles – Specifically, battery electric vehicles (BEV), plug in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV).
  • Incentive of up to $4,000 for new and $2,500 for pre-owned electric vehicles owned or leased by eligible recipients.
  • To be eligible for the rebate, electric vehicles must have a cost (MRSP) of less than $70,000 and be less than 4-years-old (model year 2021 or newer in 2024)
  • The rebate is determined at registration with Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) beginning on July 1, 2024.
  • Qualifying purchases from August 1, 2023, to March 31, 2026
  • Qualifying electric vehicles must be purchased or leased through a Manitoba dealership
  • For qualifying leased electric vehicles, the rebate is proportional to length of the lease.
  • There is only one incentive per registered electric vehicle owner and vehicle.
