Hydro-Quebec’s Guimont Elected Electric Mobility Chair

Chantal Guimont

TORONTO — The Board of Directors of Electric Mobility Canada (EMC) has appointed Montreal’s Chantal Guimont as its new President and CEO.

Guimont, currently Director, Strategic Planning and Transportation Electrification with Hydro-Québec, officially takes over the position on September 1.

“Ms. Guimont is replacing Al Cormier, EMC’s retiring founder and two-time President and CEO who will assist with the transition,” explained EMC Board Chair Catherine Kargas. “Al has been remarkably dedicated to EMC and made outstanding contributions to the development and execution of EMC’s business plans and to driving the adoption of EVs in Canada. Now we look forward to having Ms. Guimont lead EMC as it expands its activities into additional regions and modes of transportation”.

Guimont said she was thrilled to be joining EMC “at this exciting stage of growth for the electrified transportation industry. I plan to work very closely with the industry, governments, current and future members, and all stakeholders to rally and support the advancement of electrification in all fields.”

The outgoing Cormier said that his time helping to create an organization of EV stakeholders, influencing government policy and consumer perception, “has been a very gratifying part of my career, which I will cherish greatly…”
