Canadian Feed The Children and Power2Feed: Working Together to Improve the Lives of Thousands of Children
Since 2008, the Canadian Electrical Industry has been fighting hunger and feeding kids with Canadian Feed The Children (CFTC) through a campaign called Power2Feed. Thanks to generous supporters within the industry, Power2Feed has raised over $1.1 million in support of CFTC’s nutrition and food security programs and has helped feed tens of thousands of children living in poverty.
Power2Feed supports children and families here in Canada, with a focus on Aboriginal communities, as well as internationally in Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda, Bolivia and Haiti. Thanks to the outstanding support received from individuals and companies within the electrical industry, Canadian Feed The Children, in partnership with local community organizations, supports activities such as school feeding, nutrition education, school gardens, agriculture livelihoods for parents and other sustainable community development initiatives. These programs help children today as well as preparing them for a brighter future.
So far this year, members of the electrical industry have held a number of inspiring, exciting events across Canada to support Power2Feed, including BBQs, raffles, golf tournaments and 50/50 draws. Also this year, for the first time, four cyclists rode from Toronto to the EFC Annual Conference in Montreal raising almost $40,000 to feed hungry kids. These types of events are perfect examples of the amazing things that can happen when a small group of people come together to support a cause.
Your support has created a positive and lasting impact for children, families and communities here in Canada and around the world. To continue creating change and helping children thrive, Power2Feed is launching a new holiday campaign for 2014 to raise funds for Power2Feed – and most importantly, to brighten the season and the spirits of children who need it the most. With a selection of special gifts including school uniforms, clean water, school supplies, and school feeding programs, you can give a child in need an essential gift: the gift of change.
