November 25, 2016

The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) has named Jim Taggart as the 2016 recipient of its Outstanding Service Award in honour of Harold Leviton.

Established in 2008 as a tribute to Harold Leviton’s enduring legacy and dedication to improving electrical safety, the award honours an individual who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in expanding the foundation’s interests through steadfast involvement and effective leadership.

As the President and CEO of Electro-Federation Canada (EFC), Mr. Taggart provides leadership and strategic direction to the not-for-profit industry association, which represents over 250 member companies that manufacture, distribute, and service electrical and electronic products. These firms contribute over $10 billion to the Canadian economy and employ more than 40,000 workers across Canada.

Since his appointment to ESFI’s Board of Directors in 2015, Mr. Taggart has played a vital role in helping ESFI increase its visibility in both the U.S. and Canada.

“Electro-Federation Canada is an industry leader through its strong focus on electrical safety, sustainability, advocacy, and codes and standard,” says ESFI President Brett Brenner. “Jim has led by examples with the success of EFC’s work in Canada, which has helped us shape ESFI’s domestic and international platforms.”

Prior to joining Electro-Federation Canada, Mr. Taggart was Vice President, Vendor Relations at Sonepar Canada, one of the largest electronic distribution companies in Canada. Before his role as Vice President, Vendor Relations, Taggart served as President of Legrand Canada, a leading provider of electrical wiring devices and home systems.

Mr. Taggart is also past Chair of Electro-Federation Canada and has served as Chair for EFC’s Electrical Equipment Manufacturers Association of Canada (EEMAC) Council.
