Wind Turbine Operation and Maintenance Businesses Participate in Texas Trade Mission

 A delegation of five businesses primarily from the Gaspésie and the regional county municipality of la Matanie are taking part in a trade mission to the Wind Energy Update O&M Summit, which will be held in Dallas, Texas from April 14 to 16. This event, focussing on the wind turbine operation and maintenance field, will give Quebec businesses active in this rapidly growing sector an opportunity to promote their services and learn more about the latest technologies and trends.

Organized by the TechnoCentre éolien in collaboration with the ACCORD Wind Energy Cluster, the mission will give participating businesses a chance to meet major industry players and obtain strategic information from experts, particularly regarding the production of original parts, insurance, and end-of-warranty options. The delegation includes

•Collineo

 

Representatives of TechnoCentre éolien and ACCORD Wind Energy Cluster are also on hand to provide support. 

“The operation and maintenance field is expanding quickly in Quebec and its neighbouring markets,” says Dave Lavoie, ACCORD Wind Energy Cluster manager. “Knowledge is improving, and we’re seeing sector developers and enterprises constantly on the lookout for new business opportunities.”  

According to TechnoCentre éolien general manager Frédéric Côté, “The potential of the operation and maintenance market in the Unites States is estimated at some $6 billion annually between now and 2025. Over the course of this same period, it is expected that installed wind power capacity will reach 141,000 MW; moreover, 73% of the wind farms in the United States will reach the end of their warranty within the next three years. This represents highly interesting business opportunities for Quebec enterprises that have the skills they need to enter this market.”

Founded in 2000, the TechnoCentre éolien is a research and technology transfer centre that helps companies adapt their technology to withstand the northern climate, develop new products for the wind power industry, and integrate the power supply chain in Quebec.
